PHILOSOPHY

Sometimes drawing inspiration from naturally occurring patterns, I find that organic forms and textures when rendered and industrially processed result in a product that is contemporary and organic, sculptural and manufactured. Technology today is such that mechanical manufacturing surpasses the precision of even the most skilled fabricator. In many cases, contemporary design has become sterilized by the removal of the human element from production. My designs combine the precision and efficiency of industrial manufacturing with the thoughtfulness and individuality present only in more sculptural works of art. This work returns a human touch to contemporary design through the rendering of organic patterns and the use of natural textures created by hand-made finishes.
